At its pavilion, which runs under the theme ‘Child’s Imagination Unveiled’

Kalimat, a division of the Kalimat Group, has been captivating young attendees to the 42nd Sharjah International Book Fair (SIBF 2023), which is currently taking place until November 12, through its dedicated pavilion, enchantingly themed ‘Child’s Imagination Unveiled.’

Within this immersive literary showcase, Kalimat presents an array of engaging activities designed to stimulate young imaginations through creative discovery. As a special nod to South Korea, the Guest of Honour at SIBF 2023, there’s a whimsical Korean-inspired photobooth where children can capture memories with captivating Kalimat book-themed props and accessories, adding an extra layer of enchantment to their fair experience.

Personalised book-purchasing experience

Kalimat has reimagined the children’s book buying experience by offering a personalised and fun process. With their interactive tablet, kids can effortlessly find books that match their interests through intuitive filters and engaging visual effects. This user-friendly platform not only simplifies the book selection process but also makes it a delightful adventure, igniting young readers’ passion for literature.

Workshops and storytelling sessions

Activities will also encompass captivating storytelling sessions featuring renowned authors and illustrators, who will narrate their titles available through Kalimat. Visitors can also participate in hands-on workshops held within the pavilion, including a Thread Art workshop linked to the book ‘Line,’ and a ‘We are All Human’ workshop focused on exploring character movements, and a creative Recycled Materials Art workshop inspired by the book ‘Why?’, which introduces children to the explanation of natural phenomena and the mechanisms by which animals adapt to their surrounding environment. These enriching experiences create an engaging and interactive environment that encourages social connections and artistic exploration within the participating children.

Kalimat’s dedication to fostering a global love for literature

Kalimat has not only created an enchanting experience at the 42nd Sharjah International Book Fair but has also demonstrated its profound commitment to educating Arab children about their culture, global perspectives, and the contemporary challenges they face. In collaboration with renowned writers and illustrators from around the world, Kalimat has paved the way for a rich literary exploration. The impact of their work extends far beyond the fair, as Kalimat Group has expanded its distribution to over 15 countries and published more than 500 books, many of which have garnered prestigious Arab and international awards.

With over 120 books authored by some of the most celebrated writers in the Arab world and beyond, along with the translation of more than 50 original publications from Arabic to various languages, Kalimat’s dedication to fostering a global love for literature shines brightly. Located in Hall 4, the Kalimat Group is empowering young minds and promoting cultural diversity, continuing their enduring contributions to children’s literature.
